9 Simple Success Formulas

Here are the additional 9 simple success formulas from what I’ve posted earlier at 10 Simple Success Formulas:

1.    Celebrate The Small Milestones

Just as you will reward yourself for achieving your goal, you should also celebrate small milestones.

If you have twenty tasks listed that you have to complete to achieve your goal, celebrate the completion of each of them with something small. Then after the next one, another small treat. This will keep you focused on your objectives and gear you toward that next milestone, and then on to the big finale.

It’s important to staying focused that you take the time to celebrate your achievements. They may not be “Climbing Mount Everest” significant, but they are equally as monumental to achieving your goal.

2.    Reward Yourself

Successful people create a tradition for their successes. When they accomplish something, they reward themselves with something important. It doesn’t really matter what it is, but bait yourself with something you really want and make that your prize. Whether it’s a new dress, a trip to your favorite restaurant, a night out at the movies, whatever it is, congratulate yourself for your successes.

A very famous fashion designer rewards herself with a pair, sometimes several pairs, of one of a kind shoes from her favorite shoe designer every time she finishes a collection. Her specially built room to display her shoe collection is a testament to her success.

No matter what you choose, it’s important to choose something you like and can look at from time to time as a reminder that you succeeded.

Be good to yourself. You deserve it 100%.

3.    Look At Your Fears

Be honest with yourself. What are the specific things holding you back from reaching your ultimate goal?

As you identify what you worry about and then tackle those things head on, with each success, you will start to be more and more motivated.

A lot of people who dream of starting their own business don’t get started because they are afraid they will go about it the wrong way. As a result, many give up even before they take the firs step.

What they don’t realize is that they should just go all out and do it. Everything is a learning process and each lesson learned makes you even better.

The point being: address those fears. Whatever they are, whatever these obstacles are that keep you from staying focused and active, face them, find a way to overcome them and then move on as someone better and stronger.

4.    Take Risks

Often times when someone feels they’re backed into a corner, they lose desire and motivation. They feel forced to do something instead of wanting to do it.

And taking a risk at times can help get them fired back up.

What kind of risks?

Being totally honest. Sometimes it is good to just say how you feel, even if those feelings are a bit controversial. Some of the most motivating (and ultimately, rewarding) things you can do is to be totally honest and just share what’s on your heart. If your boss has an idea that you thinks really sucks but nobody dared to tell him because he’s the boss, why not be the bad guy and tell him? Be diplomatic about it, of course. You want to be noticed and highlight certain points that your boss might not think about, not fired.

Being totally vulnerable. Another way to stay motivated by taking risks is to open up and let people see the real you. So what if you’re a male – you can still share how you love your wife and kids. It may not be something macho to talk about, but you might be surprised at how many other people feel the same way. I frequently share about my life through my blog. It allows people to see me as a real person that they can relate to.

Being totally personal. Want to stay motivated? Talk about what you love. Not only does it allow you to stay motivated by sharing more about you and the things you are passionate about, it also allows people to get to know you on a more intimate level. And that builds all kinds of positive things into a relationship: trust, loyalty, friendship. So, get personal and share who you are, what you think and feel, what you want and strive for in life. The real you.

The key to taking risks isn’t to be careless. It’s about being honest and forthright, even when others may not agree with you..

5.    Step into the Unknown

Instead of sticking with something you know you’re successful with, try something new and unknown. There are so many different ways you can accomplish a goal so mix it up.

For example if your goal is to get rich, here are your options:

•    Start your own business
•    Aim for a promotion at work
•    Join a MLM business
•    Learn about investment and build a profitable investment portfolio
•    Find a side income stream if you have a full time job

You can do all of the above or just pick one or two to start then combine the rest as you progress. You may even find other ways not mentioned here.

The point is this: to stay motivated, switch things up. It couldn’t possibly get dull in doing that. The above are just examples. Think about your own goals. What are the many ways you can achieve them and how would you mix them up to get the most successful combination?

6.    Spread The Word

Sometimes sharing your goals and aspirations with close friends and family is a huge motivator. When people expose their dreams, in a way, they’ve made themselves accountable for their own success. In essence, they’ve now presented a challenge to themselves. In addition to making these desires public, they have also created a cheering section.

Now, when you aren’t motivated, you can always have those people remind you of why you wanted to achieve your goal. Have them repeat back to you what you had shared with them, how important writing was to you. They can help you keep your dreams alive.

By keeping other people involved, you not only have accountability, you have people waiting to see what you can accomplish, sometimes as much as you want it yourself. You can participate in my self help forum for free.

7.    Watch Your Progress

Whether it’s looking back at the past 5 years of your achievements, or just the past 5 months, take a look at your progress. As you achieve more and more things, it’s easy to become more and more motivated to keep going.

Let’s face it, the closer you are to the finish line, the less likely you are to turn around and quit, right?

When I first started my business, I was really excited about it all. That’s natural. But, over time, I got kind of discouraged. Things weren’t progressing as fast as I wanted them to. I tried many things but am just not seeing the results.

But, slowly, progress was made. I started to see sales and a lot of things about business were starting to make sense for me.

Sometimes just looking back over where you’ve been and what you’ve got done so far can get you to give a bit more. And soon, you’ve made it!

Progress is to be counted and applauded, even if it’s “baby steps”. Confucius said, “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.”

Think about that the next time you need motivation.

8.    Give Credit Where Credit Is Due

Often, successful people don’t make it on their own. There is always someone there in the background helping them in each step of their journey to success, whether it is their friends, parents, spouses, etc.

When you read a book written by someone successful, you will always see them penning a short dedication to the people who have inspired them to become who they are today.

When you do become successful, don’t act like you are right up there with God. Remember, someone once said, “Don’t step on the heads of the people you meet on the way up because you will need them to support you on the way down.”

9.    Have Fun

Whatever it is you choose to do, it ought to be fun. If you don’t enjoy it, then you probably need to find something else to do with your life.

More than anything, you need to enjoy what you’re doing. Don’t take life so serious or everything becomes a chore. Find the interest and humor in everything you aspire to achieve. Enjoy the learning process, the research, and the ultimate outcome.

This is probably one of the most important tips of all. If you don’t enjoy what you’re doing, you probably won’t succeed.

It’s an adventure.

Enjoy the ride.
