Merry Christmas! What Should You Be Doing Now?

Christmas is just around the corner and 2009 is waiting for you.

The common advice you’ll be hearing is telling you that it’s the best time to start planning your 2009 goals. Honestly, I think that is secondary.

What you should be doing now is to reflect:

1. What are the goals that you’ve accomplished in 2008 that you’ve set in 2007. You have to at least know how near you’ve reached your goals otherwise it’s meaningless to have goals without achieving them. And if you don’t start having a benchmark, you’ll not reach it soon. 2009 will be just like 2008.

2. What you’ve accomplished this year that you weren’t expecting. Now you will see how gratitude your life has been.

The next thing you should be doing is to give yourself a break and ‘pamper’ yourself for doing such a great job in 2008. Relax and appreciate the holiday. I’m not asking you to be lazy - I’m asking you to appreciate the time that you got. Whether you want a time alone for yourself or to spend it with your love ones, now’s the best time.

Then, be gratitude with what you got! Look - there are people out there that won’t have the chance to celebrate Christmas or New Year because of financial or health problems. You and me are considered the lucky ones, for the fact that we have food on our table everyday and a rooftop above our head.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!

If you’d like a tool for setting your goals, you can use this web application:

    http://www.Gtdagenda.com

You can use it to manage your goals, projects and tasks, set next actions and contexts, use checklists, schedules and a calendar.
A mobile version is available too.

  7. Dean says:

    Hi Patric,

First of all let me say thanks a million for sharing your knowledge and yourself with us. The material is truly profound and life changing.

I am new to this personal development journey and I find it quite mind boggling, I wish I had started earlier, I feel that I have wasted so many productive years. Nevertheless, I\\\’m here and I have so much to learn.

There are goals that I have set for this current year that I have not achieved, hence I agree with you that one has to reflect on how far we have come, and what we need to do to accomplish those unfullfilled goals. To take stock and re-energise ourselves, correct any flaws in our thinking that may still be present and press on towards the high mark. The correct mindset must be developed.

Every victory is already given unto us, we just need to rid ourselves of the bad habits by replacing them with good ones, change the paradigms, so to speak.

I wish you and your family a Blessed Christmas and much success for the coming New Year. You are an inspiration to me.

Keep on keeping on and stay the course.

    Sincerely

    Dean.

    I spent Christmas Day reflecting;
the day after Thanksgiving I totalled out my vehicle via hitting a buck who ran across the road and I hit it in the right rear on Route 189 in Heber City,Utah. 5 inches over to the left and I would have been killed.I believe the Higher Power granted me the extraordinary gift of Life and not being in a wheel chair from the accident
